F.A.Qs.
Where do you teach?
I’m based in Oakwood N14 4UB and teach in the surrounding areas of Enfield and Barnet. I usually teach either at my home or at yours and I sometimes use local church halls.

Do you give on-line lessons?
Yes and No. I’m happy to talk through any specific issues you may be facing but “proper lessons” via Skype, Zoom or Teams have never been successful.
How much do you charge?
Teaching rates start from £30 for an hour (£20 for a half-hour) but may cost more if I have to travel long distances, provide equipment or hire a hall especially for the lesson.
How long is a lesson?
Lessons usually last an hour but shorter sessions are available and are recommended for young players. This is your time to ignore everything else and be a drummer and I want you to make the most of it.
What will I learn?
A lot depends on your existing experience as a drummer. For new drummers, I can set you and your kit up ready to play then get you started enjoying your drums. Click here to read more details about the courses.
If you’ve mastered the basics then together we can explore all the different drumming rhythms and techniques to develop your own style. To get you started, I have created a list of drum rudiments.
I’m sure that there are drummers who could teach me a thing or two about drumming but who have reached a block they feel they can’t get passed. With my experience as a Coach and Mentor I can help you find a way through to your goals.
Which exam boards curriculum do you teach?
I’m listed on the RockSchool register of drum teachers but I can also prepare you for Trinity College or Trinity Rock & Pop exams.
If you are not sure which curriculum you should study then drop me a line and I’ll answer any questions I can.
What do I need to start?
You will only need drum sticks for the first lesson, which I can provide. As you learn you’ll need to get a practice pad or snare drum and stand. Then, when you are ready, you can get your first drum kit.
Do you have Public Liability Insurance (PLI)?
Yes. As a member of the Musicians Union I’m fully insured for performances and to teach at either my home or yours.
Have you been DBS checked?
Yes. I know the importance of being able to trust those who work with your children. This is why I have a DBS certificate availble on request.
See about the Disclosure and Barring Service for more details.
What are your playing rates?
My playing rates are negotiable depending on time, location, equipment required and any special requirements you have.
